THE STORY:

Dear Friends and Family,

I am running the 2014 Chicago Marathon in support of Imerman's Angels. I learned about Imerman Angels from my good friend Angie.  She fought a long, difficult battle with several forms of cancer, but sadly lost that battle in November. She was an amazing teacher and friend, and quite an inspiration to me.      Throughout her battle with cancer IA was there to support her.  Over the years I went to a few events that were with IA and I could see the support that was offered through the organization.  Two years ago, Angie and I went to watch the marathon together.  She talked about some of the runners and the cancers they were going through.  It was so inspirational and you could see how proud Angie was of all these people.  After the race we went to the IA tent where we showed support to all the runners.  The love and caring that I saw at that tent confirmed that I would eventually run the marathon with Imerman Angels.

I never thought I would run a marathon, but after a couple of half marathons, I feel it is time to try.  Especially for a cause that is so close to my heart.

If you can't donate, perhaps you can show support by cheering me and other runners on during our 26.2 on October 12, 2014.

Thanks!

Rebecca

Imerman Angels wrote -

Imerman Angels is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to provide personalized connections that enable 1-on-1 support among cancer fighters, survivors and caregivers.  At Imerman Angels, our goal is that no one ever has to face cancer alone.  Our 2014 team objective is to fund 600 personalized 1-on-1 connections (each connection costs approximately $350).

Participating in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon with Team Imerman Angels is your opportunity to be the difference for anyone seeking cancer support. Runners who agree to a fundraising minimum level of $1,050 for 1-on-1 cancer support will have access to a guaranteed entry to the Chicago Marathon. Your support is our first step in reaching this goal and sincerely appreciated.  To learn more about the important work your efforts will support, click here.
