BENEFITING: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
ORGANIZER: GLOBAL AUTISM PROJECT
Hi! I will be traveling to Uganda in November of 2018 to work with Amaanyi, a center for children with autism in Entebbe. There, my team will be training staff and reaching out to parents. Join our SkillCorps team in making a socially significant, measurable change in the lives of children with autism in Nigeria!
As some of you may or may not know, for the past three years I have been working as a Registered Behavior Technician in the world of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Each day I go to 'work' I am making a difference in the life of a child who has been diagnosed with autism, their family, our community, and our world. I began working in the ABA field while living in Hawaii because I needed a job that was flexible, made a difference in my local community, and would vary from day to day. Let's just say that I have not been disappointed! After my first year in the field, when people would ask if this was a career that I could see myself in, my reply would be, "It's just something I enjoy doing." Two years later, I can proudly say that this is where I belong! Each day brings a new adventure and another chance to reach goals! Each one of my kids will always hold a place in my heart.
I applied to volunteer with the Global Autism Project® SkillCorps team because I want to aid in living out their mission to: "Promote the acceptance and integration of individuals with autism worldwide by training communities in culturally relevant, sustainable practices." Each day in the USA we are fighting to ensure that our kids are able to receive the services needed in order to positively enhance their lives & I believe that all children, youth, and adults should have access to therapeutic resources and services.
The Global Autism Project is 100% committed to helping make that possible! Help me raise $5,000 to help the ongoing work they are doing in areas all over the world. I along with the families being helped will be grateful for your help in supporting our goal of providing inclusive and sustainable resources in Nigeria.
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
