I hit the Lottery!
I was chosen out of thousands and thousands of entries to run the NYC United Airlines Half Marathon on March 17, 2019!
It will be my 10 year Anniversary since I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. ( I still struggle with that word). I had recently lost my mom and I was struggling with losing her and I was hit with this. You see in 2007, I had quit smoking and decided to get in shape and get healthy. This couldn't be happening to me I thought! I didn't know where to turn first. The way I saw it I had 2 choices. I could crawl up in a ball and stay in the corner or I could run!
I was very new to running (if you could call it that) but I knew it made me feel alive. I decided that I would try to keep up my running while I was going through chemotherapy. Even on the days after Chemo when you are truly at your worse, I would take the anti-nausea medicine before getting up in the morning and run & run I did- 5 miles every single day. Running saved my life mentally.
So although I won the lottery I still wanted to run for a purpose. It was then that I began to search for a charity that I could run for and I discovered the TEAL team. Tell Every Amazing Lady is a charity that raises money for Ovarian Cancer. I ask if you could possibly find it in your heart to donate to this wonderful organization in my name I will be ever so grateful!. I am trying to raise $2,000.00. Please know that no donation is too small.
Even if you can not afford to donate at this time I hope you have an amazing day.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
