On May 18th, 2018 I will be fighting in my first boxing match. It will be for charity and is part of the 3rd annual Founders Fights. This is a real fight and not a celebrity promotional fight. I will definitely get hit and take some shots to the head. Chances are I could even get my ass kicked. So you should donate here for me to kick some ass, or if you have a vendetta against me, for me to get my ass kicked. Either way its going to charity. The money pledged in my name will go to the PANDAS Network. No, this is not for the cute cuddly ones (even though they are my favorite animals). PANDAS (Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with Streptococcal Infections) occurs when strep triggers a misdirected immune response which results in inflammation on a child’s brain. In turn, the child quickly begins to exhibit severe, life changing symptoms such as OCD, anxiety, tics, personality changes, decline in math and handwriting abilities, sensory sensitivities, restrictive eating, and more. PANDAS Network estimates that PANDAS/PANS affects as many as 1 in 200 children. My son Matteo was diagnosed with PANDAS but fortunately we caught it very early and the effects on him have been relatively mild compared to the horror stories I have read about. However when he was younger (6 years old, he is now 10) it was heart wrenching to say the least. He would literally come home from school with severe anxiety over having a heart attack or his heart stopping; nothing anyone should have to deal with, especially a 6year old. He also would excessively wash his hands to the point they where raw and bleeding. Again, fortunately we caught this early and my amazing wife (Amanda) was very proactive in getting him proper treatment. My wife (I know this is a shock to a lot of you) would not take no for answer and found the proper doctors to deal with this condition. I am fighting not only for my family but all families who have to deal with PANDAS. Although my journey will be painfull in the training that starts on March 5th, and of course the fight on May 18th; this will be nothing in comparison to the kids and their family’s that have to deal with this terrible illness. All of the money you donate will go to charity. Please open up your wallets and donate whatever you can to this cause (or for me to get my ass kicked).
