Refugee Transitions (RT) assists 2,500 people who have sought refuge in the U.S. from 50 countries, who live in the San Francisco Bay Area. We assist them in becoming self-sufficient in the U.S. by providing Education, Family Engagement, and Community Leadership programs. We help them graduate from high school, improve their English skills, get on the pathway to employment, reduce social isolation, and successfully navigate their new lives in the U.S.
Education is our core service. We provide Home-Based tutoring, After-School tutoring, Adult English Language and Vocational classes, and the Women's Initiative program with Early Childhood Development.
RT youth students’ high school graduation rate is 86%. This rate surpasses that of California English learners by 18%. In addition, 96% of RT’s Youth Leaders continue their education in college. Our adult students outperform California state averages for English language gains, and develop the skills needed to navigate health, employment, finance, and education systems in the U.S. Please visit our impact page to learn more.
