Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am beyond excited to be running my very first Boston Marathon as part of Team Girl Scouts!
Since 2005 I've been watching the Boston Marathon as a spectator, supporter, and cheerleader. Each year I've walked away feeling incredibily inspired by the runners dedication, drive and grit, especially those who were running to raise money for various charities. I've run multiple half marathons but always convinced myself that a full marathon was out of my reach for multiple reasons, here are just a few reason of why I thought I couldn't;
-I had a young daughter and the time commitment was too significant
-I liked sleeping more than running
-Training outside from December-April around Boston was just to damn cold/icy/dark, etc.,
-I was pregnant again :-)
-My social life would suffer
-It could (maybe, possibly) hurt my knees
This year I wanted to become more involved in my daughters activies and started a Daisy Girl Scout Troop at the local Elementary School in Framingham, MA. The more involved I became in Girls Scouts (after being one myself for many years as a child), the more I wanted to help build girls courage, confidence, and character while being a positive role model.
I hope to set an example for little girls on how to stay healthy and keep moving by running the 2018 Boston Marathon! My goal is to teach girls about empowerment through sports and the importance of both nutrition and activity. In turn, this will allow girls to gain self-esteem and leadership skills, and connect with strong women role models.
The feeling of gratitude I have to be running what is certainly the oldest and possibly most revered marathon in the country is immense. I would be beyond appreciative if you're able to donate any amount possible to help me reach my goal of $2,500 (Let's go for more!). Thank you for reading my story and Happy New Year!
