In February 2018, we got the diagnosis that Matilda (5 years old) has celiac disease. As tough as that news was to hear, just weeks into this gluten free journey has been amazing. She feels better, is healthier and is way happier than she’s been in months.
Prior to the diagnosis I was completely ignorant about celiac. I didn’t realize how serious the health effects are and how strict the diet must be.
I really encourage you to take a few minutes to read up on celiac disease; I think it is important for people to understand how serious it is and how widespread it is.
Running has always been one of mine and Tildy’s favorite activities to do together. We’ve done thousands of jog stroller miles, and now she’s starting to run along with me. So it made all the sense in the world to join Team Gluten-Free and run the New York City Marathon.
Team Gluten-Free goals are: to drive diagnosis, treatment, and a cure for the three million Americans affected by celiac disease.
Team Gluten-Free is a community fundraising program that provides a simple way for athletes and non-athletes alike to raise awareness and funds for Celiac Disease Foundation’s programs for advocacy, education and advancing research. Join today (https://celiac.org/tgf/)!
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this and supporting the effort in any way you can.
