THE STORY:

CHICAGO WILDERNESS wrote -

With wings of piercing orange and black, the monarch butterfly is one of North America’s most recognizable species, bridging Mexico, the United States and Canada through its migration. We are fortunate to share our homes and gardens with this treasure, but the monarch’s survival remains as delicate as the wings of a butterfly. From population numbers that fluctuate annually to vanishing breeding grounds, the species faces immense struggles for existence.

We can lend a hand to this cultural and ecological icon. Your donation will help Chicago Wilderness, The Field Museum, and Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum work with partners around the region to plant more milkweed for the monarch. With your help we can restore the monarch’s local habitat, and ensure that we all share One Home.
