BENEFITING: SPACE FOR GIANTS USA INC
Kayaking 1000 miles 18 Hours a day for 7 - 12 days Totally self supported from Whitehorse, Canada to the Dalton Highway Bridge, Alaska Kayaking for Conservation: Having been inspired by Running for Rangers, a dedicated group of individuals who run ultra marathons around the world, both Marcus and Peter decided to enter an ultra marathon of their own, except this one would be in a Kayak. Rather than starting our own charity, we have decided to raise money in conjunction with Running for Rangers, and donate to the Space for Giants charity. All money goes directly to the brave Rangers who help protect two of Kenya's most iconic and endagered animals, Elephant and Rhino. The Rangers risk their lives every single day and without their dedication, we would loose these magnificent beasts. The Rangers operate in tough and dangerous conditions, often travelling vast distances on foot each day. We plan on helping provide them with the much needed clothing and equipment to help make their work easier and more effective. This is no ordinary race! It is best described as an expedition race requiring extreme endurace, a stronger mind and the ability to be totally self sufficient in treacherous rives and inhospitable elements. Starting on the 18th July 2016, teams are expected to finish in 7 - 12 days but must carry supplies for 3 weeks. The river can get rough, one can expierence cold heavy rain, for days, and retreat may not be possible.
