The mission of the YWCP Foundation is to help girls that attend Young Women's College Prep Charter School brewak the cycle of poverty and become economically self-sufficient through increased college access and readiness, career awareness and leadership skills.
Young Women’s College Prep Charter School is Rochester’s only all-girls public school. It opened its doors in 2012 to its first class of 81 seventh-graders and today educates more than 380 girls in grades 7-12. All of our students live in Monroe County. YWCP offers young women from the city of Rochester the opportunity to learn in a single-gender environment, free from stereotypes, where a strong focus is placed on preparation for college enrollment and graduation. YWCP believes in educating the whole girl, which encompasses academic achievement, as well as personal and social development. The first senior class in 2018 celebrated a graduation rate of 96% with 100% of graduates accepted to at least one college. The Class of 2019 had a 95% graduation rate.
