2014 YMCA Water-ZumbATHON
EVENT DATE: Mar 08, 2014
DEADLINE TO GIVE: Dec 31, 2014
WHY GIVE TO THE Y?
Toni was worried that life might never be the same. Two years ago Toni had hip surgery and then 8 months ago a complete knee replacement. At far too young an age, Toni was worried that she might suffer a permanent loss of mobility and be unable to enjoy an active retirement.
Instead of throwing in the proverbial towel, Toni picked up a swim towel and joined the Y’s water aerobics program for active older adults. “My knee has healed ahead of schedule and my other knee is doing better than ever,” says Toni, “I absolutely adore my instructor Fred and his teaching style. I love the Y.”
The Y is committed to helping seniors, children and families get healthier. From our SilverSneakers™ and Active Older Adults programs to Fit4All Kids and Livestrong at the YMCA, we are ensuring that all of the Greater St. Petersburg community – regardless of age, income or background – are getting healthier and stronger – living a better life together.
WHAT IS OUR WATER ZUMBA-THON?
An Aqua Zumba and water aerobics event designed to raise awareness & donations for the YMCA Annual Campaign in support of LIVESTRONG® at the YMCA Program at the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA. HOW DOES IT WORK? Each aquatics exercise class will compete with each other throughout the months of January, February, and March to see which group can raise the most money! We will end with a 3 hour aqua zumba/ water exercise marathon bash on March 8th. We will have several different classes led by our favorite instructors.
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
Simply raise money for your class to help your class out-fundraise the others in our friendly competition. You can also contribute an anonymous donation or join us the day of the event!
WHEN IS IT?
March 8th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm in our heated pool
WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?
Not only will you be making a difference in your community, you will also enjoy an afternoon full of fun, food and fitness. Prizes will be awarded to the individual that raises the most donations!
