The Yale Center for Asylum Medicine (YCAM) and the Yale School of Medicine chapter of Physicians for Human Rights (YSM-PHR) are committed to supporting and advocating for refugees as they strive to settle and integrate into New Haven. As current physicians and physicians-in-training, we recognize the immense social, cultural, and economic challenges facing our refugee patients; it is our sincere hope that we can help shape a community that actively and compassionately supports these individuals in creating new, and more peaceful, lives. On February 5th, we will be participating in IRIS’s annual Run for Refugees in an effort to raise funds for this extremely valuable organization. Since 1982, IRIS has welcomed more than 5,000 refugees to Connecticut, helping them find housing and jobs, and providing them with indispensable services such as childcare and English lessons. Please support us in supporting IRIS – we greatly appreciate it!
