ORGANIZER: INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL ADVANCEMENT
THE STORY:
Ya Can Ken-Ya
INSTITUTE FOR SOCIAL ADVANCEMENT The project's main goal is to promote cultural exchange between East Africa and Europe by using Hip Hop dance in particular and culture in general to create a bridge between both regions. Most of all, however, we - the organizers - intend to empower impoverished children from difficult backgrounds throughout Africa by giving them a voice and teaching them how to use dance as a means to cope with their struggles in a constructive way. This project will consist of dance workshops and team/confidence-building activities meant to bring both parties closer together and create an environment that allows for exchange and provides the framework to help these children become more confident. The goal is to create a connection between cultures by using dance as a form of communication, inspiration and emotional ventile and a means to learn from each other.
