We are a committed and growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit that helps those in need communicate, connect, and share their stories through handwriting. We provide all materials, postage, and ensure mailing, with delivery of any received mail or communication. Our first den launched in San Diego, September 2017, followed by New York, October 2018, and Seattle, February 2019 (#4, #1, and #3 U.S. cities with the largest homeless population).
We partner with and set up monthly dens at homeless social service and community organizations. These include New York - Holy Apostles Soup Kitchen, Housing Works Bookstore and Cafe, New York Public Library/Muhlenberg Library, and New York City Relief at New York City Rescue Mission, San Diego - First Presbyterian Ladle Fellowship and Alpha Project Bridge Shelter, and Seattle - Mary’s Place Women’s Day Center.
We have overseen the writing and mailing of more than 200 cards and letters. Guests and recipients of their writing have shared many success stories from expressions of gratitude to relief for reconnecting with a family member that they may not have known their location or living status. Forgiveness, empowerment, and employment have also been positive outcomes from the writing done at our monthly dens.
