Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) can strike anyone; in fact it happens to 15 people each day in the U.S. The average life expectancy is only 2-5 years from the time of diagnosis. ALS slowly takes away the ability to move, speak, swallow, and ultimately breathe. There is no cure for ALS so there are no survivors to tell their stories. Our grandmother, aunt and friend Ola Mae passed away from ALS. Each year we participate in the The FIESTA 15k/5k Challenge, sponsored by the Emory ALS Center to bring awareness for ALS, and celebrating life. 100% race proceeds and donations benefit the Emory ALS Center.
