The Grand Slam Adoption Event is hosted by Supermodel and Actress Kate Upton and Detroit Tigers Pitcher Justin Verlander. In partnership with the Detroit Tigers and Wins for Warriors Foundation, proceeds will benefit both SPCA Florida and K9s For Warriors. This is a free, family-friendly event which will take place before the Detroit Tigers take on the Miami Marlins in Lakeland, FL.

This event brings together the dedicated efforts of three extraordinary non-profit organizations designed to serve the needs of others, especially our military veterans. Together, they work to bring attention to the plight of the underserved and illustrate the benefits of animal-human bonds to overcome the harsh realities of life.

Wins for Warriors Foundation

Founded by Justin Verlander, the mission of the Wins for Warriors Foundation is to empower United States military veterans and their families by strengthening collaboration and raising positive awareness in our communities. SPCA Florida

SPCA Florida is Polk County’s largest private non-profit animal welfare organization that adopts more than 4,000 animals in their community every year. K9s For Warriors

Founded in 2011, K9s for Warriors is dedicated to providing service canines to warriors suffering from post-traumatic stress and/or traumatic brain injury as a result of military service post 9/11. Their goal is to give a new leash on life to rescue dogs and military heroes, empowering warriors to return to civilian life with dignity and independence.
