BENEFITING: SAFESPACE INC
EVENT DATE: Oct 10, 2015
Real men stand up to domestic violence and will don red stilettos and walk a mile in them to prove it. This year the entire Treasure Coast will unite in downtown Fort Pierce to form the largest regional march against domestic violence the Treasure Coast has ever seen.
Presented by SafeSpace, the 6th Annual "Walk A Mile in Her Shoes" will be held at Fort Pierce Marina Square on Saturday, October 10th starting at 9 a.m.
Annually, October is domestic violence awareness month, and once again SafeSpace will host the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Event. Every year each Treasure Coast County hosts their own walk but this year, Martin, St. Lucie & Indian River hero’s will unite in Downtown Ft. Pierce to walk against domestic violence.
During the Walk a Mile in Her Shoes events, men are challenged to walk one mile in women's red high-heeled shoes. Most men quickly realize that it's not easy walking in these shoes, but it's a light-hearted way to get the community talking about something that's otherwise difficult to talk about: domestic violence.
What started with a handful of brave men has grown to hundreds of community leaders, businessmen, youth groups, fathers and sons and this year is going to be the largest the Treasure Coast has ever seen.
