In the name of Christ, we will serve those who come to us for help regardless of background, belief or circumstance. Our purpose is to provide hope to those who have nowhere else to turn to for assistance, and help them with their immediate crisis through addressing their basic needs, and provide them with the resources to become self-sufficient by connecting them to jobs, classes, and certifications to help them in the medium-to-longer term.

West Houston Assistance Ministries (WHAM) strengthens the lives of individuals and families in Houston by providing relevant and responsive support to the homeless and families in crisis. Programs include short-term assistance with food, clothing, rent, and utilities, as well as access to education and employment resources, all designed to move families from crisis to stability and toward self-sufficiency. As part of our responsive model, we quickly adapt to the needs of the community when disaster strikes. This has been the case with the recent hurricanes like Harvey, the government shutdown last year, and the Corona Virus as we speak. In moments such as these, but amplified in this particular crisis where every industry is suffering and people are getting laid off or have their hours cut, and shortages are rampant, our services are needed the most, and we want to provide them to those who seek them. We provide this support to the community through the collaborative effort of individuals, businesses, organizations, churches, and schools. In 2019, WHAM, its volunteers, and partners provided services to 18,547 families (42,283 individuals).
