THE STORY:

Imagine coming to a new country with your family and being unable to use your education degrees, work expereince, or networks to find a job and provide for your family in ths new place that is supposed to full of opportunity.

Imagine coming to a new country with very little knowledge of the native langauge. How will you communicate with others to find your way? How will you read and comprehend what is going on around you? How will you find a job to sustain yourself?

All immigrants face these fears and challenges when they arrive in their new home. They leave their native country for various reasons but they all have the hope of making a better life for themselves and their families. We have all come across an immigrant family who is in need of langauge assistance and job training to fit the needs of today's job market; perhaps this is your parents or grandparents!

CPC's Workforce Development programs gives immigrants and their family members a chance at the "American Dream" by providing them with Literacy Classes, job training (hospitality, luxury retail, carpentry, medical office assistance), and career development counseling (resume and interview techniques, job placement and retention). I have met countless individuals who knows someone in need of workforce development assistance and they all look to CPC to point them in the right direction because of their trusted reputation.

Please join me as I support and celebrate CPC Workforce Development's 40th anniversary. We need to ensure that their literacy, job training, and career development programming is available to all who are striving to achieve their "American Dream".

2015 marks the 40th anniversary of the Workforce Development Division. Beginning with just two programs, we have since provided over 20 training and employment services to over 95,000 clients.  This year alone, we will be training more than 200 low wage immigrants for careers in hospitality, construction and luxury retail and providing over 475 adults with English literacy skills.  Our services are targeted at immigrants living in poverty and are free to those who qualify.

Your generous donation will ensure that the Workforce Development Division can continue to provide quality training and educational services to communities most at need.  Thank you for your support!

Join us May 2015 as we celebrate 40 years together! Event details and updates coming soon. For more information, please contact us at: WF40@cpc-nyc.org
