MEMBERSHIP DRIVES OUR TREE CARE IMPACT

The NYC Parks & Recreation Department (NYCPR) removes a tree when there is a risk that it might fall onto pedestrians or vehicular traffic.  While we coordinate with NYCPR, ongoing care for 40+ municipal trees and plantings is at the heart of what we do to make our block safe and beautiful,  W9BA Annual Membership levels are $50, $100, $250, $500, $1,000, and $5,000 (Legacy). You can also donate one-time, end-of-year or recurring  tax-deductible contributions for Planting (tree-surrounds)  & Beautification.  Employee Engagement and Workplace Matching Gifts are encouraged and welcomed!

W9BA MILESTONES

1971: On 4/21, W9 neighbors start group dedicated to planting trees along W9 and create Jefferson Market Garden.
1976: Recognized as an official block association in response to surging crime and blight in New York City.
2015: Becomes 501 (c) (3) and continues volunteer-led  environmental and beautification mission.*
2020: Completes Phase I of Tree Care Upgrade Project - 12 expansions + new tree guards @ $70K
2021: W9BA @ 50 | Project Goal: Tree Bed Expansion and Guards -- Phase II- Funding Need Estimated @ $110K

*W9BA has participated on the Crowdrise/GoFundMe,Charity platform since Giving Tuesday 2015 and the funds raised are cumulative.
