Prayers needed for tomorrows visit to the neurosurgeon please!!
February 22, 2016
Before you take the time to read my story, please know that I wrote this only a couple of months ago after what we thought to be a simple trip to the ER because of a fall and pain in my Moms neck, turned into much more than any of us could have ever prepared for. My Mother was diagnosed with cancer, Stage 4, no treatment options available. In a matter of days, we were back at home with my Mother, under the care of Hospice, who were saints to say the least, Just waiting out the last few Months, atleast we hoped for months, which turned to only days. She had no health coverage or anything for that matter, so you can imagine what it has been like to receive hospital bill after hospital bill, only to have no choice than to wait for all of the "paperwork" to go thru in hopes of receiving medicaid to help with the doctors bills, which have now reached a total of over 150,000. So I do ask that if you can help our family in any way, please do so, and if u are unable to do so, then please atleast say a prayer for my family because we need all the prayers we can get!!
My Mother died peacefully in the comfort of "home" with my brother and I holding her hand and telling her it was okay to stop fighting, and that we would be alright and that we love her so very much, all the way up to when she took her last breath, and I would not trade that experience for the world now that she is gone. A part of me cant help but think... what I would give just to feel her hug me one more time and to see her beautiful smile, and to hear her say "I love you"
After putting much thought into whether or not I should start this fundraiser, I have decided that there are really no other options at this point. All we can do now is pray and leave it in Gods hands. Thanks to social media, we now have the ability to share our story with the world, and to reach out and ask for help. So to everyone out there who takes the time to read my story, I thank you in advance, and I ask that you please pray for my Mother, Sharon Lawson. I also ask that you include our entire family in your prayers. This woman means the world to our family. She has been my rock, she is my best friend, and she is the most selfless and loving person, mother, sister and grandmother that a person could ever hope for. My mother has worked so hard to take care of my brother and I, while giving us the things in life that we never would have had the opportunity to experience, had she not worked two sometimes three jobs. To have spent her whole life giving to others, it seems unfair that now, when she needs us more than ever, we can be there to give her love and emotional support and we can and will always be there to help her, physically. However, as medical bills begin to fill the mailbox, along with all of the other bills that have been steadily falling into default, It has proven to be more than we can handle as a whole, financially. Unfortunately, these doctor bills have no way of being paid, this is due to my mothers health insurance being cancelled a few weeks prior to a back surgery that she had October 28th, 2015. Lets just say that "marketplace insurance" is not all its cracked up to be!! One evening, mom had gone outside to unplug Christmas lights, and she tripped over a drop chord and fell. She acted as if everything was ok, as she always does, but you could tell she was hurt. After a week or so, she was unable to move her neck, arms, shoulders and even walking was difficult for her. Her injury was the reason for visiting the ER, then the diagnosis that followed is what forever changed our lives. My mother had two broken vertebrae in her neck along with several compression fractures throughout her body. This raised a concern with the doctors so they performed a CT scan, it was after that scan that they told us that my mother has masses on her liver, lungs, upper left chest cavity, and along her spine. She was admitted immediately with several days of tests and scans to follow. After staying in baptist for nearly a week, we were able to bring her home under the condition that she had 24 hour care available. Her biopsy later revealed that it is cancer, its called adenocarsinoma, which has already developed to stage 4. My mothers sister, Sandy, and myself volunteered to stay with her and help her with any and everything she needs. My sister in law, Jennifer, and my brother, Justin, have volunteered to take her to their home on the weekends to give her the proper care that she needs, while everyone tries to maintain the adequate amount of rest needed. We have so much ahead of us and we are prepared to face it all head on. Whats important is to maintain a positive outlook and the strength to stay strong for Mom, our kids, and most of all, ourselves. Any financial help is greatly needed and would be appreciated more than you could possibly imagine. Thank you, and God Bless You!!
