BENEFITING: WISH FOR WHEELS
EVENT DATE: Sep 13, 2016
Welcome to Denver CRE's Inaugural CRE Volunteer Week! The mission statement of the CRE Volunteer Project is to inspire team members to use their personal interests and professional expertise to connect with and support the needs of our community. Being that we live in such a bike savvy city/state amongst serious bike enthusiasts, it felt only natural to search out a volunteer opportunity involving our two-wheeled friends. Wish For Wheels is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that gives brand new bikes and helmets to kids in low income communities. The mission, through the gift of new bikes, is to transform the lives of kids from low-income families, broadening their scope for personal growth and a healthy lifestyle. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the community in a way that's unique to our local culture and interests. The goal, through Wish For Wheels, is to donate 25 bikes and helmets to a low-income school or community center during our CRE Volunteer Week (9/12-9/16). Additionally, we'll be tasked with building the bikes (with the support of a Wish For Wheels professional) and gifting in-person to students at a low income school or community center. In partnering with Wish For Wheels, we've narrowed the cost of each bike and helmet to $100/bike x 25 bikes = a total cost of $2,500. We ask that everyone involved with the Denver CRE to contribute to the cause. This may be in the form of a donation and/or on-site volunteer time. A donation is not required; however, we do ask that everyone participate in this years Inaugural CRE Volunteer Event in someway, shape for form and be a part of what looks to be a great community event.
