Hi everyone!

My name is Lauren Healy, and I am a Junior at Boston College. I'm studying Political Science with a minor in Classics and one day I hope to go to law school. I grew up in Littleton, Colorado surrounded by dogs, alpacas, llamas, horses, and just about every other animal you can think of. I love to ski, and am on the Club Figure Skating team here at BC. I am passionate about volunteering and have continued finding ways to serve the community through everything from walking dogs at animal shelters to sorting food at the Greater Boston Food Bank. Running became an integral part of my life freshman year, when I discovered that life's problems seemed to be put on hold as the miles pounded under my shoes.

Running the Boston Marathon has been on my mind since the day I chose to go to school at BC. I will be a third generation runner, with my mom, Krista, being a 5x qualifier and my Grandpa, Buck, running it twice. Since coming to college, my desire has only increased after experiencing two amazing Marathon Monday's. The feeling of the Boston Marathon goes past that of your average marathon. It is a time where the community stands together, cheering away the voice in every athletes head that whispers, "it's too long, it's too hard," and taking a stand against the attempts to cripple the city with fear from bombings and attacks. It is passion and athleticism, patriotism and tradition. It is Christmas in April and a day to celebrate. This is not just a race, it is THE race.

When a friend of mine ran for WEF, I realized that this could be the perfect opportunity to combine service, running, and family. The Wellesley Education Foundation is providing critical funding to students in the public school system through underwriting grants for educators. Spelling Bee's, STEM expo's and countless other benefits are possible because of their tireless work and I am so excited to help continue their mission! Thank you WEF for this once in a life time opportunity and thank you to YOU for helping support an incredible cause.
