Over halfway to my fundraising goal!

BENEFITING: WEDIKO CHILDRENS SERVICES INC
ORGANIZER: WEDIKO CHILDRENS SERVICES INC
On November 19, I will be running in the Philadelphia Marathon! As my FIRST marathon, this training experience has represented a unique personal challenge and opportunity, and I have learned to appreciate running beyond its physical benefits; as an exercise in mental strength, resiliency, and personal empowerment. In keeping with this spirit, I pledge my race to Wediko Children's Services. This organization occupies an important place in my heart and in society at large through its commitment to supporting at-risk youth and inspiring in them these same characteristics of mental strength, resiliency, and personal empowerment.
Through customized, intergenerational services and a focus on building positive identities, Wediko has a long history of giving children and adolescents the support they need to cope with and overcome behavioral, emotional, and social challenges. Wediko provides residential programs, school and home-based therapies, consultations, and partnerships with community providers in order to satisfy a twofold goal: (1) to establish a greater societal understanding of the impacts of adverse childhood experiences, complex trauma, and mental health challenges, and (2) to offer real strategies and solutions on every level for the most affected children. As a Residential Counselor and Athletics Instructor for Wediko’s summer program in 2015, I saw the positive impact of this work firsthand. Wediko gives children who are struggling opportunities they deserve to gain new skills and interests, build strong relationships, have fun, and realize their fullest potential in the world.
With YOUR HELP, I hope to raise $2,500 for Wediko before the day of my race. Proceeds benefit the children, families, and schools Wediko serves, and EVERY contribution makes a difference!!
LOGISTICAL INFO-- While I am running in Philly, the Crowdrise page indicates that I am part of Wediko’s New York City Marathon Team. This is not a mistake. The official NYC team filled before I could register, however, I am still supporting Wediko in this way.
THANK YOU for reading and for any contribution you might make to this worthy cause! RUN ON.
