BENEFITING: WARREN COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INC
The goal of this fundraiser is to raise $31,000 to accelerate the completion of a Habitat house (scroll through the pictures). Our Habitat for Humanity team is currently working with a partner family of six with two working parents and four children. (You can use this link to learn more about requirements of our partner families.) The youngest child was born with Cri du Chat Syndrome, a chromosome deletion disorder, and is unable to speak, walk, or feed himself.
Recently the family finances were reduced dramatically by the closing of the father’s long time employer. He is now working at a job that pays much less. The mom had pursued a healthcare certification and was working full time, but was hurt this year and required two shoulder surgeries. The recovery period has caused her to lose a substantial amount of income since she needs the physical strength for her job.
These setbacks have created major new financial challenges for them. They are currently renting a house that has become unaffordable under their current financial situation, but the choice of where to live is driven by the needs of their handicapped son. They are getting behind in all their finances and struggling to even put food on the table.
