Vaughn Next Century Learning Center is a Pre-K through 12th-grade independent charter school. Over the past 27 years, Vaughn staff, parents, and community volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide a strong and supportive learning environment for our students in school and at home. Throughout the years, we have seen families struggle with social and health stressors and we have gratefully received various resources from community agencies to help our families in need.
As you know, these are challenging times for us all. As COVID-19 continues to spread, the future has never felt so unpredictable for our families who are directly impacted by the coronavirus. Parents and family members have lost their jobs and utility bills are not being paid. Food on the dinner table is scarce and our families are filled with overwhelming fear and anxiety. Now, more than ever, our community needs us.
Together we can assist families in this critical time of need. We have established a Critical Assistance Fund for Vaughn Families, with an initial fundraising goal of $25,000. These funds will be used to temporarily assist the neediest of families with expenses related to food, vital necessities and hygiene needs for babies, children and teens. The funds will also be used for emergency expenses that may result in the families facing homelessness or facing the possible loss of utilities, in other words, assistance that has not been available to them elsewhere.
On behalf of our Vaughn community, we thank you. We are all in this together!
