BENEFITING: Saha Global
EVENT DATE: Dec 14, 2015
Hello friends, family, and soon-to-be friends!
I am a recent graduate of the University of Florida and I have the opportunity to travel to Ghana, Africa with Saha Global as a part of the Global Leadership Program.
What will you be doing?
For three weeks I will be in Northern Ghana, helping the women build sustainable water businesses.
Did you know? Roughly one half of the population in Northern Ghana lack access to clean water. They are forced to drink from "dugouts", which are infested with diseases and fecal matter. As we all know, unclean water means diarrhea, cholera, and dysentery. These all kill more people every year than violence (yes, including war).
So what does Saha Global do?
Two words: Sustainable change.
The women are given the opportunity to start their own water businesses, providing potable water to their entire community.
100% of the 76 (and increasing) water businesses are operational and all of the revenue stays within the village, managed by the women.
How can you help?
Donations are a huge help. Without your donations, these women will NOT have the capital to start these solar and water businesses. Their children and family members will continue being just a statistic. NOTE: None of this money goes towards my flight ticket.
Donate a little. Donate a lot. It all helps me get closer to my goal. Or should I say OUR goal. Is clean water not a right for every human being?
I will continue to update you all on my progress and will come up with a couple of events, so please keep an eye out!
Please note: There is a fee to raise money through Crowdrise. So you are more than welcome to send me a check. Message me or e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in offline donations. You are also more than welcome to ask how you can help fundraise my flight ticket!
