This is my third year running the Pittsburgh races. I ran the half marathon in 2016, full marathon in 2017, and I'll be running the full this year!
I'd like, this year, to run for a cause. Would you consider donating $50 or more (or less!) to the Urban Impact organization in Pittsburgh?? The Pittsburgh Marathon gives many opportunities for runners and non-runners to give to charities in the Pittsburgh area. I joined the Urban Impact team for many different reasons. This is a little bit about Urban Impact before I share my experiences.

Urban Impact invests in the lives of youth to become leaders who in turn invest in the next generation.
Urban Impact, a Christian community development organization on Pittsburgh's North Side since 1995, desires is to see lives holistically tranformed, one person, one family, one block at a time, offering programs in the Arts, Education, Athletics, and Options. Last fiscal year, with the help of 400 volunteers, Urban Impact reached 1,750 youth, served 32,300 meals, retained between 700 and 900 core students and saw all enrolled Options students graduate from high school!
--A couple of years ago, I saw a play performance of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at Grove City College put on by high school students in Urban Impact (click this link to see the whole performance...woah, it's on YouTube!). It was so well done and entertaining because they engaged with the audience the whole time and some of the students shared personal testimonies throughout the performance as they related to characters. I was instantly interested in learning more about Urban Impact. Fortunately, the cast and crew had a Q&A session after the performance for audience members to ask questions and learn more about what Urban Impact has meant for these students. I learned that through Urban Impact, lives have been transformed, kids have gained lifelong friendships and experiences that will help them succeed in the future, and there are great mentors for students who need positive leadership in their lives.
--Another reason I decided to run to make a difference in the lives of children and youth is that a big part of my life story comes from a summer camp environment. I grew up attending a christian adventure camp during the summers and have been a summer staff member almost every summer since high school.
I support the mission of Urban Impact and I hope that you will join me in supporting it by giving to my fundraiser! As of now, I have a goal to raise $600 for Urban Impact. Any dollar amount that you donate is greatly appreciated!
Run to make a difference in the lives of children and youth!
