BENEFITING: SPIRIT OF JOY WORSHIP CENTER
EVENT DATE: Dec 30, 2011
HOURS PLEDGED: 100
Our schedule includes a National New Yearʼs Celebration @President Museveniʼs Airport. We were invited to join Pastor Jackson Senyonga of Christian Life Ministrieshttp://www.christianlifeministries.org/ , who was invited by the President of Uganda to break in the New Year at his personal airport. This will be a national celebration with many Pastors, dignitaries, and ministers in attendance. We have been networking with many of them which has opened doors especially for our housing and water projects.
Also we will be working with an Orphanage w/ Pastor Jackson @Seeta and Christian Life Ministries. We will be delivering clothes sponsored by “Little Dresses for Africa” (http://www.littledressesforafrica.org/blog/) as well as working on building projects and spending time with the orphans (some of which we currently sponsor financially). We also represent International Housing Relief (http:// internationalwindowsales.com/) who will be constructing a building plant in 2012 in a desire to provide labor and affordable housing to a people in dire need. This is a well established orphanage where each house is built to home ten children and one mother (usually a widow), who literally adopts the kids thus creating a family. The kids are given three meals a day and receive an incredible education. This orphanage is a model for the developing orphanages we work with or hope to launch in the future
In addition we will travel to Home Sweet orphanage in a village outside of Masaka (http:// homesweetorphanage.org/) and stay at orphanage overnight. This will be about a 2-1/2 hour trip into the “bush.” Again “Little Dresses for Africa” will be providing clothes, as well as personal sponsors providing toys, uninflated balls and other items. We will be delivering these, as well we are going to be purchasing two luggages full of dry food/rice fruit etc to bring with us. International Housing Relief is currently busy at work raising the funds to dig a well by the orphanage as they currently donʼt have running water or electricity. The orphanage literally is struggling to provide one meal a day for the children. We will be spending the night there in the orphanage and putting on a one day activity camp with the kids before returning to Kampala.
Finally we will close our time in Kampala by hosting a Leadership Conference w/Bishop Tom @Hotel Niagra. Hundreds of leaders/pastors and lay ministers from around Africa will be attending a conference hosted by Bishop Tom (Joy Christian Centre) and Spirit of Joy International. This is how are connection started in Uganda last year. The need is great as many pastors and leaders in attendance come from villages with no education or training. Over the past year the conference lead to the creation of a new leadership/ministry training school in Uganda which has since completed their first trimester. We supplied them with curriculum in their native Luganda as well as English sponsored by ISOM. We will be providing the keynote speakers at the conference as well as delivering the curriculum necessary for the second trimester. This newly established entity has recently recieved certification to officially license the newly trained leaders (through Hope International University in Fullerton).
We will be ending our trip by traveling into picturesque Jinja where we will receive some downtime as well as meeting with a few local village ministries we are already connected to.
