An unprecedented 65.3 million people around the world have been forced from home. Among them are nearly 21.3 million refugees, over half of whom are under the age of 18.
In a world where nearly 34,000 people are forcibly displaced every day as a result of conflict or persecution, UNHCR's work is more important than ever before.
UNHCR provides critical emergency assistance in the form of clean water, sanitation, healthcare as well as shelter, blankets, household goods and even food. They arrange transport and assistance packages for people who return home and income-generating projects for those who resettle. They also help educate refugees around the world.
