University Hospitals Sports Medicine is revolutionizing the way sports medicine care is delivered. Led by James Voos, MD, Director and Head Team Physician for the Cleveland Browns, the multifaceted sports medicine program offers comprehensive specialty and subspecialty care throughout the UH system. UH Sports Medicine cares for professional sports teams, college programs, weekend warriors, and most noticeably more than 100,000 youth and high school aged athletes and coaches in our region. In 2017, UH Sports Medicine sponsors and provides care in 47 high schools and many community based sport programs. Since launching our 216-983-PLAY referral line in 2015, UH Sports Medicine has set more than 16,300 appointments primarily for youth and high school aged athletes. Starting with a proactive approach to injury prevention, UH Sports Medicine provides skilled expertise and research based medicine. When sports-related injuries occur, our team brings this specially trained proficiency throughout the entire diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation process. The partnership between UH and the Cleveland Marathon is more than just a race. It’s about the Patient Champion’s that share their stories of courage to inspire others. It’s about celebrating healthy lifestyles and fitness regardless of who you are or what you look like. It’s about making Northeast Ohio a healthier community. The Cleveland Marathon and UH Sports Medicine are committed to ensuring prevention and safety for youth and high school aged athletes in our region. This year’s race will support concussion and cardiac research in our schools and community sports programs.
