ORGANIZER: UCSF Benioff
EVENT: Virgin Sport San Francisco
EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2017
At UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, a primary concern in the Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes is that children return safely to athletics following an injury. To this end, the hospital performs neuro-cognitive baseline screening of athletes, who after sustaining a sport concussion can be retested to insure full healing of the brain before returning to play. ImPACT Neuro-cognitive testing, a computer based product chosen by the hospital, is used to perform baseline screenings and post-injury follow-up testing in our Sport Concussion Program. Through the use of this test, it can be determined if significant problems exist which may in fact require more extensive treatment. On Sunday, October 15th, a team of Sports Medicine clinicians are participating in the Virgin Sports San Francisco Half Marathon to raise money for baseline screening high school athletes in the more financially challenged schools in Oakland, who we have long partnered with. Here is where YOU can help the kids of Oakland. We have a fundraising goal of $2,000, which would be used to provide baseline screening for 200 high risk young athletes. Can you help us out?
