Thanks for visiting my page!
I'm only days away from my very first marathon and have decided to dedicate the race to my favorite nonprofit, Pride Foundation, and their amazing scholarship program, which supports the educational goals of current and future lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and straight-ally leaders and role models from all over the Northwest. The program awards over 50 different scholarships all over taatdft fdf\fdsstottto to students of all ages studying a variety of disciplines.
For the past four years, I've been able to see the huge impact a little help with expenses can make on our students. As a volunteer on Pride Foundation's scholarship committees, I have had the chance to interview many incredible scholars. I've been floored by the difference these students are already making and the passion they have for achieving their goals. It's been an honor to participate in the selection process and award part of the $340,000 108 students received in the 2010-11 school year - you can read more about them here.
While I hope some of you will consider joining me as a volunteer next year, you can help now in another way by supporting the scholarship program with a donation to my page! It's quick and easy, and even $5 or $10 makes a difference! Interesting fact - on April 30 - yes, the day before the marathon - I'll be interviewing the very students whom your donation will support!
To sweeten the deal (ha ha), I will award my top three donors with copious amounts of the baked good of your choice, and invite the top donor to be my guest at an upcoming Pride Foundation event celebrating this year's scholars. If that's not enough incentive, I have added pictures of babies, kittens, and rowing at left. Knowing my group of friends, one of those is sure to motivate you. (I'm also using them because I lack actual photos of myself running, which is tragic considering how much time I spend doing it.)
Thank you so much for your support, and for thinking of me while I crank out 26.2 miles on May 1st!
