Trip to Support Guiding Eyes for the Blind
Organized by: Andrew Crane
Greetings, My name is Andrew Crane. I am legally blind and I am the founder of Guiding Paws, Inc., an organization supporting Guiding Eyes for the Blind, an internationally-accredited nonprofit that provides guide dogs to people with vision loss. Though I was born blind and have Cerebral Palsy, my guide dog, Orzo has given me the ability to enjoy an active and independent life. I am able to travel on the city bus, volunteer at various organizations and direct my own daily schedule. Orzo and I do presentations at schools, events and for organizations, informing people about guide dogs and their importance to the blind community. My guide dog has changed my life for the better. Because of him, I have had more opportunities in life than I could have ever dreamed. However, only about two percent of the blind population works with guide dogs, leaving many blind people without the help and guidance of these amazing companions. To help Guiding Eyes provide guide dogs, Guiding Paws raised $12,500 in 2014 and $25,000 in 2015, with all monies raised going directly to funding these charities. I have a great opportunity to go on a week-long trip to New York City to work with Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I am writing to ask for you to sponsor me by donating whatever you feel led to give so that I can travel to New York to advocate for visually impaired people. This is my passion and my dream; I just need some help to make this all come together. Please consider supporting me in my efforts to raise funds through the community for Guiding Eyes for the Blind. I am dedicated to bringing awareness to people about guide dogs and the role they play in helping visually impaired individuals gain independence. Thank you! Andrew Crane and Orzo Founder of Guiding Paws, Inc.
