EVENT: NYC Half 2012
EVENT DATE: Mar 18, 2012
Albert Einstein once said, “If at first an idea isn’t absurd, then there’s no hope for it.” When friends proposed we run the New York half together, the idea of running 13 miles was certainly absurd. But the challenge was enticing and I apprehensively agreed. With a rigorous schedule and a dislike of distance running, the training has not been easy. But when I think about the charity I'm running for, I’m motivated, and the miles melt away.
Did you know:
• A woman's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer is greatly increased if she carries the BRCA1 or BRCA2 mutation (Breast Cancer gene mutation).
• Men with these mutations also have an increased risk of breast and prostate cancer. Our team will raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.
I am proud to be a part of THINK PINK ROCKS, a non-profit dedicated to providing funding for breast cancer research, screenings and treatment. The cause strikes a personal chord, as several special women in my family have been affected by breast cancer. I am dedicated to this once crazy idea, because I believe you can do anything you put your mind to—and feet.
All money raised for Think Pink Rocks from the NYC Half 2012 will benefit breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated.
