To pay for fees and expenses
Organized by: Thomas Hopkins
I just started a new job a few weeks ago working through a temp service on a remodeling and renovation construction job at the Menards in Dickinson North Dakota. During my lunch breaks I would occasionally make small talk with the cashiers at the check out while I was buying my lunch. One day I got up the nerve to ask one of the cashiers for her phone number and I was publicly reprimanded by one of the managers in front of all of the other customers in the store at the check out lanes for asking her for her phone number while she was working. I didn't want to create a scene or loose my job so I apologized and then went back to work. A few days later while I was on my smoke break I ran into her again while I was outside and she was also on her smoke break. I apologized to her for the situation and she replied "It's all good! It's all good in the hood!" I felt relieved that she wasn't upset and told her that I didn't want any bad karma and then went on my way and smoked a cigarette in my car. After my break was over and I was on my way back to the work site I was approached by a low level manager and he began to reprimand me in front of all the customers and became progressively louder as if he where trying to stir up a conflict and he kept talking over me every time I tried to talk and he was making threats. I was too tired to bother to argue and eventually he told me I was fired and to leave the store so I told him that I would file a lawsuit in small claims court against Menards for wrongful termination and loss of wages. I'm sure that the expenses will be more than $1000 but it should be enough to get things going.
