BENEFITING: New Economy Coalition
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2017
So much love to the 100+ people who helped us get to our $15,000 goal! And thank you for considering a donation!
Today, in 2017, NEC is in the process of making the leap. We have more programs than ever before that are connecting activists with ways to build a new economy in their communities: an economy that is for and by people and that resists all forms of oppression. These programs include Beautiful Solutions; a democratic regranting program (led by former grantees!) supporting frontline leaders; a fellowship for journalists who want to cover the new economy movement; and nearly 10 emerging working groups made up of some of our almost 190 members.
We're also excited about our work to engage the imaginations of people who are rising up to reject institutions that don't serve them. That work includes our Metanarrative Project, a member-led process to build a powerful, shared narrative that can challenge conventional economic doctrine and promote a new, people-centered economy. And the renewed energy on NEC's social media platforms is inspiring more and more people every day.
As the pace of the work increases, the need for funding goes with it. For NEC to succeed, we need to develop a stronger base of individual supporters who can help us grow.
Your donation would mean a lot.
In case you're unfamiliar with our work, here is a snapshot of what NEC does. And for more detail, check out our 2016 annual report at http://report.neweconomy.net/.
NEC is a network of almost 190 organizations across the U.S. and Canada who are building sustainable and fair systems of community wealth and resisting all forms of oppression. NEC members come together to learn, collaborate, share resources, and amplify each other's stories. NEC's staff of organizers facilitate this connection and capacity building within the network as well as in a larger movement for an economy that puts people and planet first. NEC offers forums, trainings, and other resources for network members and other change agents; provides grants to underfunded frontline groups--within and outside the network--building just and sustainable economic alternatives; and leads NEC members and allies in storytelling and media campaigns and outreach to build large-scale support for narratives promoting an economy where everyone can thrive.
Thank you again for thinking of us! We really appreciate your support of NEC and this movement. We need each other now more than ever.
