BENEFITING: TIMMONS ARTS FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Nov 29, 2016
The Timmons Arts Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization is dedicated to promoting and highlighting the importance of the arts in our community by creating opportunities to develop the talents of our youth, as well as supporting arts programs in local schools and youth organizations.
Founded in December, 2011, The Timmons Arts Foundation has been active in the community. Our first grant was awarded in April, 2012 to Chicot Elementary School’s Arts and Music Program.
The Timmons Arts Foundation has a history of serving the community by supporting at risk youth. In an effort to continue our mission of impacting the community, we hosted the Inaugural Cultivating the Arts Youth Camp July 7th, thru August 1, 2014, at the Willie Hinton Resource Center. The camp selected 65 at risk students, ages 7 thru 14, and developed them in areas of creative self-definition, physical activity, and positive social action.
This year the camp was held at the Arkansas Baptist College, July 6th thru August 5th, and consisted of 130 at kids from underserved communities, ages 7 thru 12. These children were granted admission to the camp free of charge. They were instructed by trained professionals in their respective disciplines of visual art, vocal music, instrumental music, dance and fashion design. The students were also instructed on how to live healthy and fit lifestyles. This 5 week camp ended with a final production on August 5th, at UALR, which allowed the students to showcase their artistic growth while exhibiting and reflecting on their knowledge and interest learned from the camp to family & friends.
In order to continue providing opportunities for our future artist, we need the support of the community.
ALL children deserve to have access to the arts...they deserve to discover their passion, to be inspired, engaged, to learn, to enjoy!
