The Voice Project works with local Congolese and Ugandan musicians who have written "come home" songs to their children abducted by the LRA, a brutal rebel group terrorizing central Africa and abducting children as young as 8 years old to fill its ranks. These songs tell the abducted children that they are forgiven for the crimes they have been forced to commit and ask them to lay down their weapons and come home.
The Voice Project works to ensure that these songs reach the ears of LRA members out in "the bush" by:
-recording and producing local "come home" songs
-distributing these songs to radio stations throughout the region
-building additional radio stations
-encourage peace-building dialogue and conflict resolution among the affected communities.
The Voice Project is expanding their programs in 2012, and they need to raise $15,000 during the month of November. This will allow The Voice Project to launch an aggressive nation-wide campaign in early 2012 that will multiply the energy and funds that they can send to Congo to broadcast these "come home" messages to the abducted LRA soldiers.
