The VOIC Enrichment Academy Summer Day Camp operates summer camp and afterschool programs for children and families in the Tracy, CA community ages 7 – 14.
Our goal is to promote a sense of belonging to a large freethought community, encourage critical thinking, promote respect for others who hold different viewpoints, and provide a safe and fun environment for personal and social development.
We have been operating VOIC Enrichment Academy Summer Day Camp for 2 years using a volunteer staff, and supporting 8 enrolled campers the first year with no junior camp counselors volunteering, to 17 enrolled campers and 3 volunteer Junior camp counselors the second year. Mountains Hope Community Center has allowed us to use there building to run our camp. Each year the camp has been opened for two weeks in June with the campers asking for it to be opened longer! We would like to increase our capacity to 30 campers. Limited funds, staff and our own dedicated location has prohibited us from accepting more campers in the community, and staying open longer than the two weeks.
Our additional future goals are to add weekend camp for families who need it due to their work schedule and to expand our current after school program. This will allow parents to have ease of mind knowing their child is in a safe environment and getting the additional educational help needed. The weekend day camp is a service that is currently not available in our community.
Being a non-profit, we have relied on donations and participation fees to run our camps. We maintain competitive camp costs and offer subsidized rates for families in need.
Our goal is to run the summer enrichment camp the entire months of June and July each year with a total of 30 kids, and to run the after-school program August thru May each year with a total of 30 kids. We would also like to run a weekend day camp for parents who work on the weekend, as well as locate a facility to permanently house the VOIC Enrichment Academy programs.
