Five years ago when the 14th Dalai Lama authorized our global program of education and social action, he said, “Dalai Lama Fellows is a global learning community to advance the human values that I promote wherever I go: the interconnectedness of all beings, the need to come together as a human family, the centrality of compassion to both personal well-being and the common good.”
This spring when we met the Dalai Lama at his home in Dharamsala, he was delighted by our report that we have now named nearly 100 Dalai Lama Fellows from 30 nationalities and set them to work on mindful, compassionate and ethical new approaches to addressing and rectifying the world’s’ most severe social challenges: violence, poverty, interethnic hostilities, gender inequities, health and the environment.
Our yearlong “Heart, Head and Hands” Ethical Leadership Curriculum has coalesced these Fellows into a cohesive and enduring community of social innovators -- ranging from Oakland to Ghana, Cairo to Sao Paolo, and Appalachia to Mumbai -- dedicated to building toward a world that works for all of us. Because it is increasingly clear that otherwise the world won’t work for any of us.
Augmenting the core Fellowship with DLF Labs, we are extending our curriculum, our culture and our global community to new partnerships worldwide in academia, the philanthropic sector and the business community. We would welcome your participation and wisdom and invite you to learn more about our community, our mission and our successes at www.dalailamafellows.org.
Dalai Lama Fellows is a project of Community Initiatives.
