BENEFITING: The Nest Center for Women, Children & Families
EVENT DATE: Dec 01, 2015
The Nest - Center for Women, Children, and Families provides a safe place for education, counseling, and support to children and families in crisis. Our programs focus on the prevention of physical and sexual abuse, neglect of children, and the stabilization of the family unit. The center offers resources for families to develop the skills and education needed for a healthier lifestyle and self-sufficiency.
We are different than most nonprofits by the way we focus on FOUR separate programs that work together using a holistic approach for the whole family. Annually we serve over 4,200 struggling families through our four programs. Our programs include: Respite Childcare, Crisis Care, Domestic Violence Counseling and Advocacy and Parenting Education and Support.
All our programs at The Nest, are provided for FREE. Together, these four programs provide a safe and nurturing place for families.
We hope to become one of the leading resources for building a strong, self-sufficient community.
Childcare Program: Our childcare program is a state-licensed childcare center with a 5-Star state rating. We provide a safe & nurturing environment while maintaining a high quality early childhood curriculum based education program at-risk children five years of age and under.
Crisis Care Program: We provide basic necessities such as infant diapers and formulas, toiletries for children and adults, care seats and cribs, cleaning supplies and children's clothing.
Domestic Violence and Advocacy Program: The Nest provides assessments, individual counseling, education support groups, and legal advocacy for English and Spanish speaking victims of domestic violence. These services are provided free of charge.
Parent Education and Support Program: We off parenting skills assessments, parenting classes, and parenting self-help groups free of charge. Parenting classes are structured, curriculum-based courses that focus on effective parenting and non-violent methods of discipline.
Volunteers: We are always in need for volunteers and in-kind needs at The Nest! Our volunteers have a variety of different backgrounds and help us in a variety of capacities. We have schools volunteer their time collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste for our clients, an individual that utilized her skills as a seamstress to repair children's clothes donated to The Nest and others who helps us sort through clothing donations. We even have a program at our Respite Childcare Center where you can bring your favorite book to read to the children and become a Story Time Hero! Your talents will be used and appreciated at The Nest. If you would like to volunteer, we would love to have you here!
We take in-kind donations of baby items, toiletries, and children's clothing. All items that are donated are given to individuals in need in our community for free.
