Hello, This is Blake K, the Executive Director of The National LGBTQ Society. We are a registered nonprofit and are recognized by the IRS as a 501C(3) organization. We are raising funds to support our mission. Our mission is to provide a safe space and safe environment through its purpose of providing valuable education, resources, and support to the LGBTQ Community and its allies. Our mission and vision is to create community centers across the country, and to begin combating homelessness within the LGBTQ Community and Allied Community.
Our goal is to create a community center with an homeless shelter and food pantry in every state in the United States. I myself identify as a gay man, and fortunately for me I have the most supportive family and friends, however their are many people that I know and many people that I have talked to who are still in the closet and afraid to come out of the closet because of feeling fearful of their family. I can only imagine how difficult it is for the people that I know who are fearful of coming out. Nobody should have to feel ashame for being themselves and nobody should have to hide their true inner self. Just because someone identifies as anything but Straight, that doesn't mean that they are any lessor of a person. We are all equal and we all have rights. Our organization are taking a stand for the LGBTQ Community and our Allied Community
Professionally, I am a Emergency Medical Technician and have worked in EMS for several years, for me I love giving back to my community and being their for my community. For me, being able to support the community that I love and belong to is very important to me. I treat the LGBTQ community and our allies as second family to me. This is one of the reason's why I have decided to start The National LGBTQ Society, I started it because I wanted people to not feel afraid and not feel ashame. I wanted people to know that their is safe environment and safe spaces that they can go to. I wanted to provide a better community resource to those that are struggling. Do you know that up to 40% of the homeless teenage popular is due to the teenager coming out as a member of the LGBTQ+ community? Yes we are focused on the LGBTQ+ community however we are more then willing to help out our allies as well, since our allies provide the greatest support to our communities.
My organization's goal is to reduce the number of homelessness teens that are living out on the street because they family disowned them, or barred them from their homes because they identify as something other then heterosexual. This is one of the reason's why we are fundraising so that we can truly start to make a impact in the community. This fundraiser is to raise funds so that we can begin creating the community centers, homeless shelter's, and food pantry. We are fundraising so that we can hit our goal of establishing a community center, homeless shelter, and food pantry in every state, and I know that this goal will take many years to accomplish however we want to begin working towards this goal.
