The MSL Men Step up to the plate and take a stand against domestic violence
EVENT DATE: Sep 14, 2014
Join us on Sunday September 14th 1pm @ Ford Field, Northville, as The MSL Men take a stand against domestic violence. They hope to raise at least $10,000 to help the First Step Domestic Violence Shelter complete their outdoor project.
The design criteria for this playscape is by no means arbitrary. Every component, every area has a purpose and function. The play areas are situated such that the children requiring the greatest degree of supervision (infant/toddlers, then pre-school, etc.) are nearest to the facility. The design and use of the meditative/healing gardens is based upon their use and research in hospitals. The research has shown that the patients that had exposure to dedicated garden areas required less pain medication, were discharged more quickly than the control group and provided an economic incentive for their use. This research has been duplicated over the last several decades and has now resulted in meditative/healing gardens becoming fairly common in health care facilities around the world. We strongly believe that First Step families will benefit in similar ways.
