BENEFITING: GREATER PRAISE CHURCH OF GOD IN CHRIST INC
THE STORY:
The Joseph Project is about connection. We are connecting people with jobs. We are an inner city Milwaukee church working to fill a need. The people in our community need jobs. We have developed partnerships with employers outside of the city that desperately need workers.
But The Joseph Project is so much more….
We prepare our Joseph Project participants for success. The program begins with people genuinely seeking opportunities. Then, we host a free week-long soft skills training session. Job-seekers are taught interview skills, spiritual fitness, conflict resolution & stress management, goal setting, team work and personal finance.
At the end of their training, Joseph Project participants are immediately given the opportunity to interview that same week. In most cases, jobs are offered contingent on passing background checks and drug screens.
They key to this program’s success is transportation. Our church provides transportation from Milwaukee to Sheboygan County three times a day, 7 days a week. (4 x per day on Fri.-Sun.) That totals 9,000 miles each and every month for our old 15-passenger church van. We also need to pay for 5 drivers, maintenance and fuel.
The monthly cost of just the transportation piece alone is $5,000/month. We have been offering this program since September 2015 using only private donations. We have no government assistance. We are asking for your help to keep this ministry moving forward.
We believe God blesses those who help themselves through work.
May God richly bless you for your support.
