Over 2.2 million Americans are incarcerated today. Upon their release from prison, former inmates often face social stigma and employment barriers that prevent them from attaining a job. Research has shown that without meaningful employment opportunities, many of these men and women will return to prison in as little as 3 years.
To help break this socially and financially destructive cycle of recidivism (the tendency of a convicted criminal to reoffend), The Redemption Project empowers inmates through virtue-based education while partnering with employers to provide these individuals with mentoring opportunities while incarcerated and meaningful employment upon release.
We believe that bringing an end to recidivism begins with a good job and having the character and integrity to keep it!
