THE STORY:

The year is quickly coming to an end. It is that time of year where families come together from all around and thank God for all He has done for us. Today, we ask God for all the help He can bless us with. On Sunday morning we received the awful news that a fire had started in our parent’s home. Thinking little of it, we assumed it was something small, easy to take care of, but we quickly learned that it was worse than we could have ever imagined. The flames destroyed nearly the entire upper level of our childhood home, making it completely unlivable. Memories spent in that small, yet cozy, home instantly filled our minds, and it was then that the loss truly hit us. Today, we learned that the insurance policy on the home covered the damages that occurred as a result of the fire, however, it did not cover things like personal belongings or a temporary change in location. Our family has endured all sorts of mishaps in previous years, but the love we share for each other is beyond what anyone can imagine, and love is what has kept us strong and united. Our dad was told that he would not only have to continue paying mortgage for the damaged home, but also for a temporary home. Unfortunately, this is just not plausible for him, given his salary. We found out from our youngest brother that they would all have to separate to stay with different relatives; this news was so disheartening. We don’t know how long it will take to fix our home, but based on the damages we expect no less than 4-6 months. We have never had to separate like this before and it is so painful to even think about. The holiday season is just around the corner, a time for family, warm homes, and love, but this holiday season, though we are fortunate enough to have family and love, we lack the home to bring us all together. With that, we are asking friends, relatives, and all of our loved ones to help our family with a temporary home, while our permanent one is under construction. Our goal amount is $10,000. Most of which will go towards paying for the rent of a temporary home. The remaining will help with the cost of damaged furniture, which includes couches, dining table, all kitchenware, beds, dressers etc. We know that this is a lot, but we believe that by the Grace of God and the strong community we have built connections with over the years, this goal can and will be reached. Thank you so much. With love, The Ebrahim Siblings
