BENEFITING: UNICEF USA
ORGANIZER: UNICEF USA
EVENT DATE: Nov 03, 2013
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! I hope to reach my goal of $3500 by the time I drag myself across that finish line on Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Not familiar with the greuling work that is a marathon? I am! I ran my first full marathon at 17 years old. But just running a marathon is no fun! You need to run a marathon with purpose. So, I ran for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of my close friend Mike D., who is an inspirational childhood leukemia surviver (take that cancer!). 26.2 miles was definitly no breeze and I'm nervous about the commitment, but with the support of UNICEF and everyone who donates, I know I can push myself to make it to that finish line in one of the greatest marathons in the world!
You know what's harder than running a marathon though? Not having access to education because you're a girl. Not having enough to eat because of where or when or to whom you were born. Not having access to clean drinking water. Not feeling safe because you are a child.
Living with these realities make running a full marathon seem like a breeze.
UNICEF fights for the survival and development of all children, in all situations, all of the time. This relentless conviction has propelled UNICEF to help save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization. We believe in a world where there are ZERO starving children; ZERO exploited children; ZERO children denied an education, and ZERO children deprived of clean water. By joining Team UNICEF, you will help us get closer to a day when every child has a safe and healthy childhood.
