BENEFITING: TRAGEDY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR SURVIVORS
ORGANIZER: TRAGEDY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR SURVIVORS
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2016
This year I wanted to do something daring, to live beyond the boundaries of an ordinary life all to honor his extraordinary life. I want to run as his living legacy and to support TAPS who supported me. I am Kimberly, and I run for Josh, my love, my fiance.
Josh Rath was a true man's man. He was admired and loved by all who knew him. His lived life fully, taking advantage of every adventure possible, taking the mundane and making it exceptional. He wanted to do great things, to show people that love and taking risks is what life is about. He joined the military right out of high school and immediately went overseas after basic. He was deployed multiple times and while on a foot partol was killed by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan on Janurary 8, 2009. We were to be married upon his return from war.
I was given five amazing years to love this man and have his love in return. After my love and my future were killed, I had no where to turn. TAPS found me and they took in into their arms and gave me a hope I thought was forever gone. They gave me the inspiration I needed to start living life again. Now I am not only living, I am striving to live a life that Josh would be proud of, and that is a life of risks, adventure, and loving all of mankind. So I am running, a marathon, in New York City! It is scary but I will carry him on my back the whole way, because I know that even though he is not physically here, he is always with me, who has got my back.
To get a glimpse of my love, watch the video to the left. See that first soldier leaning on the mountain tops. That's him, that is Josh!
Please consider making any contribution to support TAPS and honor Josh. Thank you!

Run with Team TAPS at the TCS New York City Marathon! Hundreds of people every year participate in Team TAPS events throughout the country to remember and honor our fallen service members--while raising funds and awareness to assist TAPS. Run with confidence that every dollar you fundraise goes quickly to provide help, hope, and healing to the families who are left behind. If you are up for a challenge in both endurance and fundraising, have a caring heart, and would like to honor the memory of a fallen service member, then we would love to have you join Team TAPS in our inaugural year at the TCS New York City Marathon!
The Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) offers compassionate care to all those grieving the death of a loved one serving in our Armed Forces. Since 1994, TAPS has provided comfort and hope 24 hours a day, seven days a week through a national peer support network and connection to grief resources, all at no cost to surviving families and loved ones.
