VALLEY BIBLE WORD OF FAITH CHURCH INC via Crowdrise
April 28, 2015
The late Rev. James A. Benson, the founder and creator of The Benson History Museum at Valley Bible Church, spent over 25 years of his life preserving multicultural history; however, there is a true focus on Lawnside and its unique background. Having played a role in the Underground Railroad, Lawnside is chock full of rich history. Throughout the museum there are extraordinary pictures, articles and artifacts depicting not only the history of Lawnside, but the African American journey and the contributions of African Americans worldwide. Sadly, only months after his passing, we have been advised that our building must come down. As you know, this past winter was rather cruel and our building has begun to lean and crumble under the burgeoning weight of the many snow storms we endured. We have to insure that all of Rev. Benson's work and his collection of over 20,000 books, articles, antiques, artifacts and pictures of our history will be preserved. This effort has been compromised and greatly endangered by the state of our building. Please don't let his labor of love to be in vain. . We need your help to save his collection and raise a new building to share our history with generations to come.
EVERYONE MUST KNOW WHOSE SHOULDERS THEY ARE STANDING UPON.
TODAY THE BENSON HISTORY MUSEUM NEEDS YOUR HELP! Please make a donation of $10 or more to help us continue the work Rev. Benson began! Your tax deductible contribution will help us continue to share and preserve our history. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!
